The legal profession in Lebanon is governed by Law No. 8/1970 on the Organisation of the Legal Profession and by the internal regulations of the Beirut and Tripoli Bar Associations.

Admission to the Bar
Candidates must hold a Lebanese law degree (or a recognised foreign equivalent), pass the Bar entrance exam, and complete a three-year traineeship under a senior attorney. Full admission follows a professional oath.

Court appearances
Only attorneys registered with a Lebanese bar may plead before Lebanese courts. Foreign counsel may participate as advisors but must associate with a local attorney for representation.
