Structure
The Constitution establishes a parliamentary republic with a separation of powers between the Presidency of the Republic, the Council of Ministers, the Chamber of Deputies, and an independent judiciary.

Evolution
The Taif Agreement of 1989 and its constitutional translation of 1990 rebalanced executive powers, reinforced parliamentary prerogatives, and reaffirmed the principle of coexistence among Lebanon's communities.
